Muscle Pain
Muscle pain, tightness and stubborn knots can nag for weeks. Hands-on physiotherapy and dry needling release tense muscles and help you move freely and comfortably again.
Understanding muscle pain
Muscle pain, or myalgia, is soreness, aching or tightness felt in the soft tissues that move your body. It can be local to one area, such as a knotted upper trapezius or a tight calf, or more widespread through the body. Common triggers include overuse, an unaccustomed workout, sustained poor posture, and stress that keeps muscles tense. Muscle pain often comes with tender knots, known as trigger points, and a feeling of stiffness that eases a little once you get moving.
Most muscle pain is short lived and settles as the tissue recovers, but pain that lingers, keeps returning or spreads widely deserves a closer look. Persistent tightness can reflect an underlying joint or nerve problem, an overloaded movement pattern, or in some cases a medical condition that needs a doctor. A clear assessment separates a simple overuse strain from these other causes, so your treatment targets the real driver rather than chasing the sore spot alone.
Signs to look out for
- Aching, soreness or tenderness in the muscles
- Tight bands or knots known as trigger points
- Stiffness that eases with gentle movement
- Muscle cramps or spasm
- Pain that worsens with pressure or overuse
- Reduced flexibility and range of movement
- Fatigue or heaviness in the affected area
Why it happens
- Overuse or an unaccustomed workout
- Sustained poor posture and desk work
- Stress and emotional tension
- Muscle overload or poor technique
- Dehydration or mineral imbalance
- Referred pain from a joint or nerve
Treating muscle pain at Rehoboth
Every plan starts with a thorough assessment and a written plan you can actually read. Same-week appointments across five Grand Cayman clinics.
Your first visit is an assessment of the painful muscles, the joints they cross and your movement, so we treat the cause of the tension and not just the sore spot. We then build a personalised plan. Manual therapy and soft tissue release ease tight muscles, while dry needling targets stubborn trigger points and modalities such as ultrasound, heat and TENS help relax spasm and settle pain in the early days.
As the muscles settle we progress to graded stretching, strengthening and movement retraining so the tissue can handle load without flaring up again. We also coach posture, warm-up and recovery habits, and use kinesiology taping to support the area during activity. If your pain is widespread, persistent or unexplained, we work alongside your doctor and refer for review when appropriate. Same-week appointments are available across our five Grand Cayman clinics.

Muscle Pain questions, answered
Yes. Physiotherapy relieves muscle pain by releasing tight tissue and trigger points, easing spasm and correcting the movement or posture patterns that overload the muscle. Treatment targets the cause of the tension, not just the sore spot, so relief lasts.
Yes. Dry needling is very effective for stubborn muscle knots, or trigger points, releasing the tight band and easing referred pain. Our physiotherapists use it alongside manual therapy and a stretching plan to keep the muscle relaxed.
Recurring muscle pain often reflects an ongoing cause such as posture, stress, a weak or overloaded muscle, or a joint or nerve issue nearby. Our assessment finds the real driver so treatment can stop the cycle rather than just ease the latest flare.
Most muscle pain is harmless and settles with time and treatment. Pain that is severe, widespread, unexplained or comes with weakness, swelling or feeling unwell should be checked, and we work alongside your doctor and refer when appropriate.
Yes. We treat muscle pain at all five of our Grand Cayman clinics, from George Town to West Bay. Same-week appointments are available and we bill CINICO and major insurers directly.
Other musculoskeletal conditions we treat
Back and Neck Pain
Back and neck pain can make everyday movement, work and sleep difficult. Physiotherapy and chiropractic care ease pain and restore movement so you can get back to normal.
Joint Pain
Joint pain in the knees, hips, shoulders or hands can limit the things you love. Physiotherapy eases pain and rebuilds the strength that keeps your joints moving well.
Strains and Sprains
A strain or sprain can happen in an instant and needs the right care from day one. Physiotherapy settles pain and rebuilds strength for a safe return to activity.
Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis causes joint pain and stiffness as cartilage wears over time. Physiotherapy helps you stay active, build strength and manage symptoms long term.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition that inflames the joints. Alongside your doctor, physiotherapy helps keep you mobile, strong and functioning well.
Tenosynovitis
Tenosynovitis is inflammation of the sheath around a tendon, often in the wrist and thumb. Physiotherapy calms the irritation and restores pain-free movement.
