Laser Therapy
Low level laser therapy uses focused light to reach painful, injured tissue below the skin, helping to reduce pain and support healing without heat or needles.
What to expect
Low level laser therapy, also known as cold laser or LLLT, directs specific wavelengths of light into the tissue to support the body's own repair. Unlike a surgical laser it does not cut or burn, and it produces little or no heat. The energy is absorbed by the cells, where it is thought to ease pain, lower inflammation and encourage healing. We use it within a wider physiotherapy plan for problems that are proving slow to settle.
During treatment your physiotherapist holds a small probe against the skin over the injured area for a few minutes at a time. It is painless and you may feel a slight warmth or nothing at all. Because it is quick and comfortable, laser therapy is easy to combine with manual therapy and exercise in the same visit, and it is usually delivered across a short course rather than as a one off session.

Your laser therapy journey
Assessment first, a clear written plan, then treatment and review. You always know the next step.
Assessment first
Your appointment starts with a full physiotherapy assessment so we can find the source of your symptoms and confirm laser therapy is a sensible choice for you. We explain the approach and hand you a clear, written plan before any treatment goes ahead.
Laser treatment
The clinician places a small laser probe on the skin over the target area and holds it there for a short time, moving to each point in turn. You simply relax while it works, and it is often paired with hands on therapy in the same visit.
Exercise and review
We add exercises to rebuild strength and movement, then check how your pain and function are changing and adjust the plan. Laser therapy usually gives the best results over a short course, so we agree the number of sessions with you early on.
Laser Therapy questions, answered
No, cold laser therapy is painless and most people feel nothing more than a mild warmth where the probe rests. There are no needles and no recovery time, so you can carry on with your day straight afterwards.
Cold laser, or low level laser therapy, uses gentle light to support healing and does not cut, burn or damage tissue. It is very different from the high powered lasers used in surgery, which is why it is comfortable and non invasive.
Most people have a short course of several sessions rather than a single visit. The exact number depends on your condition and how long it has been present, and your written plan sets out what to expect.

Magnetotherapy uses pulsed magnetic fields to calm inflammation and encourage healing in bone, joint and soft tissue injuries, without needles or downtime.
Ultrasound Therapy
Therapeutic ultrasound sends focused sound waves deep into the tissues to warm them, ease pain and encourage healing in tendon, muscle and joint problems that are slow to settle.
TENS Therapy
TENS uses gentle electrical pulses delivered through pads on the skin to interrupt pain signals and give drug free relief from acute and long standing pain.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Electrical muscle stimulation uses controlled pulses to make weak or inhibited muscles contract, helping to reactivate and rebuild them after injury or surgery.
Percussion Therapy
Percussion therapy uses rapid, targeted pulses to reach deep into tight muscle, easing tension and helping you recover faster from training, work or injury.
Manual Therapy and Exercise
Manual therapy combines skilled hands-on techniques with guided exercise to ease back, neck and joint pain and restore natural, comfortable movement.
